Recently we decided to anticipate on starting the production of almond and hazelnut containing products in our sites by the end of 2014. Despite the change in production will only become implemented in the course of 2014, Alpro started to adapt the packaging gradually as from now on. Thus to make sure that all packaging will be timely changed and that every consumer is or can become aware of the change prior to the effective change. As always, we want to safeguard the highest safety and top quality of our products, also in the context of allergies. Therefore, all possible measures will be implemented to avoid any cross-contamination whatsoever. These measures include amongst others specific attention for separate flows in relation to handling of raw materials and manufacturing processes as well as thorough cleaning procedures, for which we gathered a lot of internal and external expertise. Although there is no legal requirement to label potential cross contamination when all good manufacturing practices are taken to avoid this, we decided to explicitly inform the consumer about the integration of nut products at the Alpro production sites . Alpro will therefore clearly label the soya products (soya drinks, soya desserts, soya alternatives to yoghurt and cream), rice products and oat products with ‘may contain traces of almonds and hazelnuts’. Some Alpro products such as soya variations on meat and Alpro margarines do not have the labeling 'may contain traces of almonds and hazelnuts' because these products are produced in a completely separate production site.
