Our vision is of a world where more of what we eat comes directly from plants. Why? Because a plant-based lifestyle tastes good in every sense – it’s more sustainable for the planet, and eating more food from plants is good for our health.
Here at Alpro we want to continue to change the way the world eats for the better by creating delicious, naturally healthy plant-based foods, for the maximum wellbeing of everyone and with the utmost respect for our planet.

The values we stand for run deep here at Alpro and are the very fabric of our culture – so much so that we’ve sewn them into our Code of Ethics. Today, more than 1,100 people count themselves as Alpro People, and we collaborate with many more through partnerships across Europe. It doesn’t stop when the working day is over. Cue the Alpro Social Fund, which was founded in 2012 to provide support to social and sustainability projects local to Alpro facilities. Managed by the King Baudouin Foundation, the fund allows Alpro employees and their families to get actively involved and give back to our communities.
We’ve been around for a long time, making plant-based food and drink since well before the days it became fashionable. For us, it’s common sense. And common sense never tasted this good.
1980 - We started out with a radical thought: what if the goodness of soya could be turned into something as versatile as ‘milk’? From this idea our simple, wholesome recipe for a soya drink was born, and with that an appetite for much, much more.
1988 - Our factory in Wevelgem, Belgium is built.
1996 - Alpro acquires the Sojinal factory in France. Expansion continues and our UK factory is built.
2007 - Our headquarters in Ghent, Belgium open their doors.
2009 - Alpro joins the Dairy Concern, Dean Foods, USA family.
2012 - WhiteWave debuts on the NYSE, before separating entirely from parent company Dean Foods the following year.
2012 - Alpro goes nuts – and our almond and hazelnut drinks are born.
2018 - Today, Alpro is a frontrunner in terms of CO2 reduction. And with investments of 270 million Euros and 565 new people joining the Alpro family over the past half-decade, the future for plant power has never been more exciting.
