What are oat drinks made from?
The main ingredients in our oat drinks are simply water and oats. A good source of fibre, and low in fat and saturated fats, they’re also fortified with calcium and vitamins D2, B2 and in some oat drinks, vitamin B12*.
What’s the process of making oat drinks?
Once our oats have been ground and soaked in water, it’s time to turn them into the deliciously creamy oat drink that you can pour, drink and enjoy. Take a look at the steps we take to achieve that below.
Step 1 - Oats and water mixed and milled together
We want to ensure that the most sustainable practices are used in the cultivation of our ingredients. So, just like our almonds and soya beans, our oats are grown close to home in Europe. Once they reach us here at Alpro, they’re then mixed and milled together with water in our factory to create that smooth and silky texture. The ingredients used retain many of the nutrients from the oats, and the fine particles give the liquid a creamy texture
Step 2 - Adding Enzymes
The next step in the process is to add enzymes to our creamy and smooth oat blend.
Step 3 – Adding additional ingredients for that Oatstanding texture
After being ground, soaked and blended with water, our smooth and creamy oat blend is then ready for other ingredients to be added. Specifically, vitamins D2, B2 and in some oat drinks B12*. We also add calcium** to support the normal maintenance of bones.
