What we use:
Let’s start with the good news. Our single serve 150g pots are made of PP (polypropylene) with a cardboard outer, both 100% recyclable if you’ve got the right facilities where you live. Who knows, your plastic pot could have a whole new life as a cosy fleece or a compost bin.
Now for the not so good. The seal is made from aluminium but it’s not recyclable, so we’re busy looking for alternatives that will work just as well.
Why we use it:
Right now this the best mix of materials to keep your plant-based deliciousness as fresh as possible until you’re ready to enjoy. And it’s mostly recyclable – but we know we can do better.
What makes us happy:
Right now, we need the plastic to keep everything watertight but at least adding the cardboard means we can use less of it.
The fact that the cup and sleeve are both fully recyclable.
Once we’ve found an alternative to aluminium, our cups will be 100% recyclable.
What we’re working on:
Making it easy for you to separate the paper sleeve from the plastic cup.
Changing the virgin paper sleeve to a recycled paper one.
Looking out for a more sustainable, recyclable solution to that aluminium seal just as soon as someone invents it. Trust us, we’re on it.
