Popular media have raised the concern that soya might affect male fertility. However, this concern has no scientific basis. Soya beans contain isoflavones, which have a similar structure to estrogen in the body but are much less active. Various studies have been conducted on the effects of soya isoflavones in young and older men. No negative effect was observed in any of these studies. In addition, in Asia, people have eaten soya foods for thousands of years without any negative effects.
