What is lactose intolerance?

Lactose intolerance is the inability to digest lactose, which is present in dairy products. In the gut, lactose needs to be broken down by the enzyme lactase. People with lactose intolerance lack or do not produce enough lactase, and undigested lactose remains in the gut causing tummy discomfort, diarrhea and bloating. An easy way to resolve this is to cut out all foods with milk and/or dairy– and thereby lactose – from your diet and replace them with dairy and lactose free alternatives such as those made by Alpro. All our products are plant-based and therefore naturally lactose free. For detailed information on lactose please visit our lactose pages. Please consult your doctor or dietician if you have any further questions on this topic.
