Why does Alpro use white beet sugar instead of raw cane sugar?

Sugars that are added to foods comes from either sugar cane or sugar beet. By using white beet sugar we can guarantee a great tasting, high quality product.

Using white beet sugar also helps reduce the environmental footprint of our products. Raw cane sugar is typically produced outside the EU, whereas white beet sugar is locally sourced. Less transport means a reduction in CO2 emissions, and, along with savings in water usage, makes using white beet sugar more environmentally friendly.

Also there is no nutritional advantages in using cane sugar. While analyses have shown very small differences in certain minerals, these are so small they’re unlikely to have an impact on our daily intake of these minerals.
